This waterproofing is done incorrectly

Builders carried out waterproofing of a house, but they did everything completely the opposite of how it should be done.

This is an analysis of a photo taken from the internet because I cannot show images of my real projects, but I encounter these kinds of problems in my work all the time.

This waterproofing is done incorrectly and will not last long. The bitumen layer will crack quickly, especially at the corners, and start letting water through. As a result, instead of protecting the house, it will actually start absorbing even more moisture. Creating something like a “bathtub” under the house is absolutely unacceptable because water will accumulate inside and won’t be able to drain away. Moisture will penetrate the walls and floors, causing dampness, mold, and gradual structural damage.

The main causes of the problem are not addressed by this type of work. On the contrary, it makes the situation worse and harder to fix in the future.Naturally, clients often don’t realize that the job has been done incorrectly and that it will cause more harm than good.

This is why you should always call a moisture control engineer first, get an expert assessment and a detailed plan of solutions, and only then hire builders to carry out the work.
